Captain

You don't have to be a captain to be a captain. And really, that says it all. We encapsulated the confusion of rank versus role in one simple sentence. And we're going to go on doing it, too.

Because we are now prepared to tell you how most, if not all, military ranks came to be and where most, if not all of them, came from. And hopefully you'll be able to work out who to salute and when. Just like we've made a belated salute to Memorial Day.
